Widower kills son for opposing his remarriage

A WIDOWER who wanted to remarry shot and killed his son for objecting to his wish, Makkal Osai reported.

Ram Poricha, 76, who is from India’s Gujarat state, lost his wife over 20 years ago and has been living alone in a house next to his son’s family.

When Ram informed his son Pratap, 52, that he wished for a companion, Pratap got upset.

He argued that a man with a grandson of marriageable age would be looked down upon by their community if he remarried.

A few days ago, Pratap visited his father’s house to invite him for tea.

Ram, anticipating the visit, waited with a gun and shot his son twice.

Pratap’s wife Jeya, who heard the gunshots, ran over to the house and was shocked to see her husband dead in a pool of blood.

Ram apparently took aim at Jeya as well but she managed to flee to her own home.

The elderly man was later arrested. Apparently, he said that he felt no guilt for his actions as he claimed his son had been abusing him for some time.
