THEY rejected their daughter’s boyfriend and arranged a marriage for her with another man but they ended up red-faced after she dumped the groom at the altar, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Their daughter, identified only as Sheba, had been dating a neighbourhood boy for a few years in Bengaluru, India’s southern Karnataka state.
But her parents were against the relationship when they found out about it.
They began arranging her marriage with a groom of their choice.
During the ceremony, Sheba’s family went to get her from a room for the thaali -tying ceremony but could not find her.
They found out then that she had eloped with her boyfriend and the wedding ceremony came to a halt.
The embarrassed family lodged a police report claiming the boyfriend had kidnapped their daughter.
