Rapid Rail confirms technical disruption at Abdullah Hukum LRT station

PETALING JAYA: Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail), the operator of the Kelana Jaya Line LRT service, has confirmed that a technical disruption occurred on its train at the Abdullah Hukum station on Wednesday (March 12) night.

“The incident, which went viral on social media, was reported at 10.43pm last night, stemming from damage to a power collector assembly component on the train.

“As a result of the incident, there was a small plume of smoke and a loud noise,” it said in a statement on Thursday (March 13).

Rapid Rail said that a transit officer on duty in the train acted swiftly according to standard operating procedures by requesting all passengers to disembark at Abdullah Hukum station.

“Alternative train services were activated to allow passengers to continue their journey to their destinations. No injuries were reported.

“The damaged train has been sent back to the maintenance depot for further investigation.

“Additionally, more frequent monitoring is being conducted by transit officers, especially on trains during peak hours,” it added.

Rapid Rail apologised for any inconvenience caused, adding that it will continue to make improvements to ensure Rapid KL passengers have a safe, comfortable, and smooth journey.
