Cops close in on factory rioters in Pokok Sena

ALOR SETAR: Police are identifying those involved in a riot at an industrial factory in Jabi, Pokok Sena, near here.

Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Siti Nor Salawati Saad said police are currently examining a viral video that allegedly depicts a riot involving a group of individuals thought to be factory workers.

She said initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred around 12.05pm on Tuesday, following a dispute between the Nepalese and Bangladeshi workers with two factory supervisors.

“The dispute is believed to have stemmed from workers’ dissatisfaction over delayed salary payments,” she said in a statement yesterday, Bernama reported.

According to her statement, three individuals suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

“At present, the situation seems to be under control, and it is learnt that the company has resolved the salary issue,” she added.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
