Leadership shake-up in civil service


KUALA LUMPUR: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has announced new appointments and changes in placement for seven top management posts in the civil service.

Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim has been appointed to the same post at the Education Ministry, taking over from Datuk Ruji Ubi.

Ruji will now serve as National Unity Ministry secretary-general while the position of secretary-general at Mosti will held by Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad.

Hasnol Zam Zam was previously the National Unity Ministry secretary-general.

Public Service Department deputy director-general (development) Datuk Dr Anesee Ibrahim has been appointed as Higher Education secretary-general.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry deputy director-general (management) Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot is now the ministry’s secretary-general.

The Prime Minister’s principal private secretary Datuk Seri Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria has been appointed as director-general of the Implementation Coordination Unit under the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM).

Datuk Shahrol Anuwar Sarman has been named as the new principal private secretary to the Prime Minister.

“These changes are aligned with the agenda to reform the public service, further strengthening the value shift in civil servant responsibilities, particularly among senior officials.

“This is to ensure the continued excellence of public service leadership,” he said in a statement.
