Court freezes bank account and shares linked to 1MDB fund

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here allowed the government’s application to issue a freeze order on the bank accounts and shares belonging to Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal Turki Al Saud and former media advisor to Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Paul Geoffrey Stadlen, who are allegedly linked to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) fund.

Judge K. Muniandy issued the order yesterday after allowing the application by deputy public prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat under Section 53 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001, to block the two individuals from accessing their bank accounts and shares abroad.
