AI to help cops tackle commercial crime cases, says CCID director

KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in investigating commercial crime cases, says Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf.

The CCID director said the use of AI will be able to ensure investigating officers can optimise their time in managing cases.

"The investigators can also focus on several cases at once with the use of the tech.

"We will use the chatbot tech to analyse statements collected in an investigation as well," he said when contacted on Thursday (March 6).

The use of AI will be widened in the future to include other aspects of investigations, he said.

"AI is no longer an unusual thing in daily lives. In fact it is being used in various fields.

"In the context of enforcement and investigating commercial crimes, AI can be used to assist in various stages of investigations.

"It has the potential to assist in analysing forensic data, analysing texts well as identifying suspicious financial transactions," he said.
