MCA preserves Chinese culture, institutions, says Ling Tian Soon

IPOH: Chinese culture, celebrations, and education in Malaysia would not be as they are today without contributions from MCA, says party youth chief Ling Tian Soon.

He said past leaders' efforts have preserved these aspects until now.

"For our children to study in Chinese schools, who fought for it? We can still celebrate Chinese New Year for more than two days and other cultural events because we fought to protect them," he said on Sunday (March 2).

Ling said this at the Ipoh Timur MCA Chinese New Year, Women's Day, and fundraising dinner at Tow Boo Keong Temple hall.

The Johor health and environment committee chairman then said that DAP leaders should return to their "Opposition's spirit" by fighting for the people and the country's development.

"If they did something wrong, just admit it," said the Yong Peng assemblyman.

"They need to voice out if they see something that is not right. They should not blame and reprimand MCA every time we speak up about some issues," he said.

"Please focus on resolving the people's issues and prioritising the country's development," he added.

Ling was referring to how MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong recently raised an NGO's concerns about possibly removing the Chinese characters from the iconic Petaling Street signage.
