Human Resources Ministry makes police report following allegation on FB

PETALING JAYA: The Human Resources Ministry (Kesuma) has made a police report following an allegation by a Facebook user claiming that a recent town hall session organised by the ministry for gig workers had "normalised elements of pluralism and liberalism".

"This allegation is malicious and is an attempt to inflame religious sentiments to create confusion among the people and tarnish the image of the ministry," said the ministry statement on Tuesday (Feb 25).

"This allegation has marred the objective of the programme, which is to introduce new laws which gives rights and protection to 1.12 million gig workers in the country," read the statement, which added that it appears this action was also an attempt to tarnish the credibility of ministry staff who worked hard to to prepare the Gig Workers Act 2025.

"Kesuma is always committed to, and upholds the principle of Rukun Negara in protecting inclusivity, unity, and respect among Malaysians," it added.
