‘We are ready for Sabah polls,’ EC chairman says


KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission (EC) of Malaysia is ready to face Sabah’s 17th state election, anytime, its chairman affirms.

Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the groundworks, election machinery and other preparations have been made to ensure the smooth running of the state election when it is called.

“We are fully ready to face the state polls which are set to be held anytime, with the term ending November this year,” he said in a statement after paying a courtesy call to Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman in Istana Seri Kinabalu here on Wednesday (Feb 19).

During the courtesy call, he also congratulated Musa on his appointment as the new state governor, with effect from Jan 1 this year.

Among those who were present in this courtesy call were EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak and Sabah Election Office director Rohiman Rahia.
