Selangor Sultan orders for CCTV installation to curb criminal activities

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah ordered for the installation of CCTV cameras to be increased in strategic places so that criminal activities can be traced quickly.

“I urge the police and the ‘Bomba’ to always be prepared to carry out duties to take care of safety in Selangor,’’ said Sultan Sharafuddin in his royal address at the Third Session of the 15th Selangor State Legislative Assembly Session here on Tuesday (Feb 18).

On another matter, Sultan Sharafuddin said Selangor required efficient and sufficient healthcare services in tandem with the rapid increase in residents.

For this, the number of hospitals and health centres needs to be increased to meet population growth as the people still depend on government healthcare services due to the high cost of private healthcare services.

“Old hospitals must be upgraded and equipped with sufficient apparatus and personnel.

“I recommend that the Selangor Health Department discuss this with the Health Ministry,’’ said Sultan Sharafuddin.

The Sultan also reminded the Selangor Islamic Religious Department to continue preventing deviant teachings that mislead, by organising programmes to strengthen the faith of Muslims.

Sultan Sharafuddin also said he had directed Jais to monitor and improve Tahfiz (religious) schools in the state.

”I want the physical condition, building facilities and hostels in Tahfiz schools to have accredited safety measures and the fire prevention equipment must all be in good condition and approved by the ’Bomba’,” said Sultan Sharafuddin adding that Tahfiz schools that are not registered or do not meet the stipulated requirements must be shut down.

The Ruler also reminded the state and relevant organisations that orphans and the needy in Selangor must not be neglected.

”Jais and the Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE) must play a role in helping them and ensuring they receive proper education and basic needs.

“The safety and comfort of their living arrangements must be proper and it must be guaranteed that they are able to lead normal lives like everyone else.

“I hope there won't be any individuals or groups that will use orphaned and poor children in the state for personal interest and profits,’’ said Sultan Sharafuddin.
