Anwar's diplomatic skills a boon in 'crazy' global political climate, says Mat Sabu

JOHOR BARU: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's diplomacy is what Malaysia needs to navigate the current "crazy" global political climate, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

The Amanah president said these were challenging times, citing the arrest of former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro and the ongoing Middle East crisis as examples.

"Anwar is not perfect, but his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses.

"The world is going insane. There is a president of a major power who appears to take action against anyone who disagrees with him.

"The global order has collapsed. Who can help change world governance? One of them is Anwar, because he has ties with all sides," he said during his speech at the Pakatan Harapan Convention at the Persada International Convention Centre here on Sunday (May 17).

The Pakatan deputy chairman also said Malaysia and other smaller countries could no longer rely on the United Nations for protection.

"The UN is now just a place for debates. There are no resolutions.

"Even when there are resolutions, they are violated. Smaller countries must remain neutral and maintain good ties with all countries, including China, European nations and Russia," he said.
