JOHOR BARU: The issue of foreign-registered vehicles refuelling with subsidised RON95 petrol was among the key topics discussed in a meeting with the Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
The Johor Mentri Besar said he met with state ministry director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo and ministry officials to address critical concerns related to price control and the supply of essential goods, which have a significant impact on the people.
"Three main issues were discussed with the ministry, including the sale of RON95 petrol to foreign-registered vehicles. The state government takes this matter seriously as it affects supply for the people of Johor.
"Enforcement will be strengthened through regular monitoring, and strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules," he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Feb 15).
Onn Hafiz added that the discussion also covered the sale of controlled goods without a valid licence. Johor Domestic Trade will tighten enforcement against foreigners or traders who sell subsidised goods such as packet cooking oil, flour, and sugar without proper authorisation.
The Machap assemblyman stressed that these measures were essential to ensure that only Malaysians benefit from such subsidies.
The third issue raised during the meeting was price monitoring during festive seasons.
"Through the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP), the state government, together with Johor Domestic Trade, will ensure that the prices of essential goods such as cooking oil and flour remain controlled to avoid burdening the people," he said.
Onn Hafiz reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Johoreans.
"This is the foundation of the Maju Johor 2030 vision and mission. With strong commitment and cooperation from all parties, I am confident we can address these issues more effectively.
"This will ensure that all plans and measures are implemented efficiently to safeguard the well-being of the people of Johor," he added.
