Two shops and 15 vehicles in Johor damaged by fallen tree


JOHOR BARU: Two shops and 15 vehicles along Jalan Kuning 1 in Taman Pelangi here were damaged after a tree uprooted following a heavy downpour and strong winds.

Larkin fire station operations commander Firdaus Abdullah said they received a distress call at 5.04pm on Friday (Feb 14) alerting them of the incident.

“We immediately deployed 10 firemen with a fire rescue tender and one Emergency Medical Rescue Service to the location.

“When our team reached there, we found that a tree had fallen and hit two shops and 15 vehicles,” he said, adding that work was underway to cut the fallen tree.

Firdaus also said they were assisted by four personnel from Johor Baru City Council Skuad Kilat unit.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department issued a warning that thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds were expected in various parts of the country.
