Two Seri Kembangan eateries, grocery store razed in late night fire


SERDANG: Two eateries and a grocery store were destroyed in a fire on Jalan Institut Pertanian, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Seri Kembangan, here, on Monday (Feb 10), Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a call regarding the incident at 11pm Monday.

"Twenty personnel and officers with machinery from the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Station, rushed to the scene," he said in a statement Tuesday (Feb 11).

Ahmad Mukhlis said, based on the operation commander's report, the fire involved a row of three Class C shops.

"One eatery and a grocery store were 90% razed, while the other eatery was 80% destroyed," he said.

He said the fire was successfully controlled at 11.43pm.

"The fire did not involve any casualties and has been successfully extinguished. 'Overhaul' work is being done," he said.
