Two dead, two seriously hurt in three-vehicle pile-up in Kuala Krai


KOTA BARU: Two people died and two others were seriously injured in an accident involving three vehicles on the Kuala Krai-Gua Musang road, near Sungai Sam, Kuala Krai on Friday (Feb 7) afternoon.

Kuala Krai Fire and Rescue Station operations chief Razani Mamat said the accident involved two cars and a five-tonne lorry.

"The two fatalities were in the smaller car, comprising a man and a woman, while two other passengers in the same car were seriously injured.

"Meanwhile, a woman driving the bigger car and the lorry driver did not suffer any injuries,” he said when contacted Friday.

He said they received an emergency call at 4.50pm before nine personnel were dispatched to the accident scene.

"Upon arrival, we immediately conducted rescue operations to extract the victims who were trapped, and two victims in the smaller car were confirmed dead at the scene,” he said.

Razani said the two seriously injured women were sent to the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kuala Krai for further treatment. - Bernama
