PETALING JAYA: A food court in Puchong was raided by the Immigration Department, leading to the arrest of 58 suspected illegal immigrants.

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 5), said the raid was conducted on Feb 4.

It was believed that the food court was operated by illegal immigrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh who had entered via the Temporary Employment Visit Pass (PLKS).

A total of 102 people were inspected, with 58 foreigners arrested.

Of that, 41 were Myanmar nationals.

"All suspects, aged 18 to 40, were sent to the Bukit Jalil depot for further action.

"The department will not compromise on foreigners operating illegally, overstaying or misusing passes," he said.
