107 advanced comms towers in Johor a milestone for Jendela initiative, says MCMC

JOHOR BARU: The successful completion of 107 advanced telecommunications towers in Johor is a significant milestone in phase one of the National Digital Network (Jendela) initiative, says the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Its Johor director Nurzie Ibrahim said advanced infrastructure and high-quality services were important to enhance the country’s global competitiveness.

She said 91 of the towers are fully operational while the remaining 16 will be activated in phases by the third quarter.

“With cutting-edge infrastructure and top-tier services, we can strengthen our nation’s global standing.

“The success of this project would not have been possible without the dedication of stakeholders, including consultants who worked tirelessly to ensure the completion of the towers across Johor,” she said at a handing-over ceremony for the towers here on Tuesday (Feb 4).

She added that construction of the towers was completed within the stipulated timeline set for the fourth quarter of last year.

“They play a crucial role in bridging the digital divide and enhancing connectivity in the state,” she said.
