Sultan Ibrahim calls for a clean and safe country ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026

KUALA LUMPUR: Ensure the country is clean and safe for tourists ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM 2026), says His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

His Majesty said that the campaign would allow the world to see the uniqueness of Malaysian cultures and values.

“The Visit Malaysia 2026 Campaign will show the uniqueness of culture and the values of Malaysian society.

“It will also open up economic opportunities, and strengthen the country's image in the eyes of the world,” His Majesty said in his royal address when opening the First Meeting of the 4th Term of the 15th Parliament on Monday (Feb 3).

“No tourists will come if our country is dirty, and the crime rate is high,” His Majesty added.

The Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign was officially launched on Jan 6, featuring a fresh logo, mascots, a new theme song and an aircraft livery as part of efforts to elevate the country's tourism sector to new heights.

His Majesty also said that the government should promptly enhance the use of digital technology by strengthening infrastructure and the digital economy and enhancing cybersecurity.

“Government service systems should also be upgraded using more efficient and transparent digital technology.

“This is to eradicate corrupt practices, misuse of power, and the "red tape" culture that complicates public affairs.

“However, I would like to remind the public to always be cautious, so as not to fall victim to cybercrimes, such as online financial fraud or 'scammers' and identity theft,” said His Majesty.
