JOHOR BARU: The Johor state government plans to offer premium starting salaries of RM4,000 to RM5,000, not only for highly skilled workers but also for those specialising in Islamic studies.
Johor education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin said that the state government is also on a mission to cultivate exceptional religious scholars and speakers who can serve as future leaders in Islamic affairs.
He added that the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) initiative is designed not only for students pursuing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) but also for all students.
“As part of Johor’s broader economic strategy, the state aims to offer competitive salaries across various sectors, including for Islamic scholars and professionals.
“Our target is to ensure a premium salary of RM4,000 is offered across all sectors, not just for high-skilled workers,” he said.
He said this when met after conducting a visit to students at the Madrasah Alattas Alarabiah Johor who will be sitting for their Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) 2024 examination, here, on Monday (Feb 3).
He added that the government is exploring potential employment opportunities for these graduates, particularly in the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ) and other related sectors.
On Nov 2024, Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim was reported saying that Johor is set to make history as the first Malaysian state to offer premium starting salaries for high-skilled workers, ranging from RM4,000 to RM5,000.
He added that this ambitious initiative is being led by the JTDC, launched on Nov 3, showing the state's commitment to nurturing a skilled workforce.
