National Day: Dr M attends Putrajaya celebrations


 IPOH: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made an appearance at the 2026 National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya here on Monday (Aug 31).

In a live-streamed video on TikTok account @chedetofficial, the 101-year-old statesman was seen waving to visitors while seated in an electric wheelchair.

Dr Mahathir greeted spectators, while some security personnel and visitors took selfies with him.

He also posted a brief National Day message on Facebook, accompanied by a video highlighting his time as Malaysia’s prime minister from 1981 to 2003 during his first term and from 2018 to 2020 during his second.

"Happy Independence Day and 69th National Day, Malaysia," he said.
