KUALA LUMPUR: Don't talk about the problems outside, focus on the country's own improvement instead, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said that external problems were issues that were insurmountable and not within the government's means and capacity.

"I have always felt that we must start at home, which means our political system, the issue of governance, and all that needs to be done to ensure that we are efficient," he said at the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) Chinese New Year Reception 2025 on Monday (Feb 3).

Anwar said that the government is concentrating on implementing the right policy measures, such as prioritising digital transformation.

"Will artificial intelligence (AI) provide us with benefits? Are we prepared with our educational strategy, focus, fund allocation, and training to become an effective nation?" he asked.

He highlighted the areas needed for improvement in the country, such as increasing the level of efficiency, fast tracking approvals, ridding the country of corruption and making sure that decisions are made transparently.

"These things are within our means and it takes effort, resolve from all of us," he added.

He said bureaucrats, businesses and academics should come together with political leaders as a team, marking a significant breakthrough to ensure Malaysia emerges as an important economy.

Anwar also said that Malaysia has had excellent exchanges with China, United States and Europe so far.
