World silat champ Thamaraj among three recipients of Army award

PORT DICKSON: World silat champion Sarjan V. Thamaraj and his colleagues Sarjan Ahmad Fauzan Abd Hadi and Staf Sarjan Mohd Nor Khalid received the ‘Pisau Tentera Darat’ (Army Dagger) award for their achievements and bravery in bringing honour to the Malaysian Army.

Thamaraj, 29, who serves in the 9th Company of the Royal Military Police Corps, became the first Indian silat exponent to win a gold medal at the 20th World Pencak Silat Championships in the men's free category in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last December.
