Keeping an eye on supply and safety in affected areas

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd will continuously monitor the electricity supply in flood-affected areas, says its chief operating officer Mohd Yusmanizam Mohd Yusof.

He said a technical team has been placed on 24-hour standby to repair any damage in Kota Marudu, Telupid, Lahad Datu, Pitas, Kota Belud, Beluran, Sandakan, Paitan, Beaufort and Tongod.“The measure includes the provision of mobile generator sets, which will be placed in strategic locations,” he said in a statement yesterday, reported Bernama.

Flooded electricity substations were shut down and repair work would commence once the water level receded and the situation was deemed safe, he added.

He said Sabah Electricity had opened operations rooms in all affected districts to monitor the situation and respond immediately to any electrical safety issues.

Consumers who experience power outages during the floods are advised to contact Sabah Electricity at 15444, 088-515 000, or via WhatsApp at 019-852 5427.
