SUNGAI BULOH: I have done my best in Sungai Buloh, I believe I am in a comfortable position here, says Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan (pic).

The Sungai Buloh MP from PKR said this when questioned about whether he would continue to contest the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat in the next general election.

He spoke to the media after officiating the Program Madani Kita and attending a town hall with residents in Kota Damansara today (Oct 17).

Kota Damansara is situated within the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency.

"For me, I have done the best I can, and I continue to do my best. I will keep striving to do better whenever possible.

"Ultimately, the people will decide.

"However, based on what I have seen today and the feedback I have received from residents, I believe this is a very comfortable position to be in.

"When town hall sessions are held elsewhere, we sometimes hear complaints that the situation is chaotic or that residents are dissatisfied. We did not select the participants or set the questions in advance. Everyone was welcome, including village heads and representatives of residents' associations.

"Of course, some residents remain unhappy about issues that have not been resolved for years, including drainage problems.

"We will continue doing our best to ensure that these problems are addressed as quickly as possible.

"Nevertheless, based on today's session, I feel there are relatively few unresolved issues that residents have not had an opportunity to raise," said Ramanan.

He also said that those who spoke up at the town hall acknowledged the success of the RM1.1 billion flood mitigation project in the Sungai Buloh area.

Earlier, Ramanan responded to various requests and complaints from Kota Damansara residents, with issues ranging from flood mitigation to upskilling certification of teachers in schools.

In the last general election, Ramanan won the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat with a majority of 2,693 votes against Umno's Khairy Jamaluddin.

There are 158,090 registered voters in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency.
