JOHOR BARU: A Singaporean influencer has been fined RM1,000 by the Magistrate’s Court here for lodging a false police report claiming she was nearly abducted at a shopping mall on Jan 10.
Amyra Laila Ho (pic), 45, pleaded guilty in front of Magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsudin after the charge was read out to her in English yesterday.
According to the charge sheet, she provided false information to personnel at the Larkin police station here at around 1.02am on Jan 22.
Based on the facts of the case, Amyra claimed in her report that at 1pm on Jan 10, she was approached by a man and a woman at a shopping mall located along Jalan Seladang in Taman Abad.
She claimed that the duo approached her to try some Chinese tea.
When she declined their offer, the woman insisted she smell the tea leaves, at which point she started feeling dizzy.
Amyra then alleged that the man held on to her right arm and said that he was her husband.
The woman, meanwhile, took her handbag which contained RM400, she claimed.
When asked in court if the report was false, the accused merely nodded.
Amyra was charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum six months’ jail or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
She pleaded guilty to the offence and Hidayatul Syuhada slapped a RM1,000 fine in default of three weeks’ imprisonment.Deputy public prosecutor Nur Fatihah Mohd Nizam prosecuted the case. The accused was not represented. Amyra paid the fine.
