Police to revisit crime scene in Teoh Beng Hock investigation: Renewed efforts underway

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will revisit the crime scene where Teoh Beng Hock was discovered dead as part of their renewed investigations into his death.

Bukit Aman, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, in a special briefing on Monday (Jan 27), said that the current investigation paper was due to be completed by May.

"We have revisited the investigation paper and examined the witnesses we need to call back for questioning. I have instructed my officers to reexamine the crime scene and have been told there have been many changes.

"I will go down to the scene myself," said Comm Mohd Shuhaily

He added that the police plan to call back witnesses after the Chinese New Year.

In Nov 2024, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ordered the police to complete its investigation into the death of Teoh Beng Hock, who died 15 years ago, within six months.

Teoh was found dead on July 16, 2009, on the fifth-floor corridor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after giving a statement at the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office on the 14th floor of the building.

In an unrelated matter, Mohd Shuhaily said that investigations into the acid attack on footballer Faisal Halim had never been stopped.

Faisal had been attacked at a shopping mall in May 2024.

He said there had been questions about whether the police had checked the CCTV footage at the shopping mall where the incident occurred and the nearby roads, and he said they had.

"We do not have any leads now," he said.
