Two men die in Alor Setar house fire


ALOR STAR: Two men perished in a fire that destroyed a two-storey house near Jalan Kampung Tongkang Yard, here, early on Tuesday (Jan 21) morning.

Kedah Fire and Rescue Department senior operations officer, Senior Fire Superintendent I Azhar Mohamad, stated that the victims were aged 23 and 61.

A fire engine was dispatched after an emergency call was received at 6.51am.

"Upon arrival at the location, the firefighters found a house engulfed in flames.

"The effort to extinguish the fire successfully controlled the blaze by 7.11am.

"Two male victims were found charred in the fire incident," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He added that efforts to extinguish the fire were still ongoing at the scene.
