Anti-graft rally fails to meet Peaceful Assembly Act requirements, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Himpunan Rakyat Benci Rasuah’s application to hold a rally was incomplete because it did not adhere to stipulations in the Peaceful Assembly Act, says police.

In a statement on Tuesday (Jan 21) Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said that the application did not come with a copy of a consent letter from the premises owner.

“A response was given on Jan 17 to the organisers stating that they would need to adhere to the stipulations in the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012,” he said.

He stated that the police advised everyone to refrain from attending unlawful assemblies.

The anti-corruption rally, dubbed the Himpunan Rakyat Benci Rasuah, is scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Jan 25).
