Two Myanmar nationals get six months' in jail for possession of LPG without licence


SEREMBAN: Two Myanmar nationals were sentenced to six months in jail by the Sessions Court here for possession of 1,122.24kg of liquefied petroleum gas without a valid licence.

Tun Tun Kyaing, 30 and Sein Kyi Moe, 24 pleaded guilty after they were charged before judge Muhamad Kamil Nizam.

They were charged with committing the offence with two others who were still at large.

They were found to be in possession of the LPG which was a controlled item at an unnumbered premises at the Green Technology Park near here.

The offence was committed around 11.45pm on Sept 4 last year.

The two accused were employees at the premises which was used as a store to keep the LPG.

The duo were charged under rule 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974 read together with Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Offenders can be fined up to RM1mil or jailed up to three years or both upon conviction.

Nor Alimah Mohd Sanusi prosecuted while the accused were unrepresented.
