Bus lanes congested at Thai border with start of school holidays

PETALING JAYA: Bus lanes exiting the country to Thailand at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security Complex (ICQS) border checkpoint are reportedly congested as the school holidays begin on Saturday (Jan 18).

As of 8am, the Immigration Department office there reported heavy traffic from buses heading to Thailand.

Traffic for cars and motorcycles exiting the country, as well as vehicles entering via all three modes of transport, was reported to be smooth.

According to the Education Ministry, the new academic year in schools will reopen in all states on Feb 17, and a day earlier in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.
