Former health minister Dr Subramaniam conferred award in India


PETALING JAYA: Former health minister Tan Sri Dr S. Subramaniam has been awarded the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Award (PBSA) 2025 by the Indian government.

The PBSA is the highest honour conferred on non-citizen Indians in the field of politics.

"The award was conferred on Dr Subramaniam by the President of India on Friday (Jan 10) as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention 2025 held at Bhubaneswar, Odissa in India," said a statement from the High Commission of India on Saturday (Jan 11).

"Its a well deserved achievement which reflects Dr Subramaniam's longstanding commitment and dedication to public service and positive contribution to the enhancement of India-Malaysia relations," it added.

Dr Subramaniam who was is former MIC president served as human resources minister and later as health minister from 2008 to 2018.
