SOGDC earns anti-bribery certification

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Oil and Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC) is among the first organisations in the state to receive the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification.

SOGDC recently achieved this ISO 37001:2016 certification along with ISO 9001:2015 for its Quality Management System (QMS), said SOGDC Managing Director Datuk Harun Ismail.

Harun – who is also the SOGDC Chief Executive Officer – said these certifications strengthen their position in the oil and gas industry, marking a milestone that underscores their commitment to quality, governance, and integrity.

He added that these certifications are not just accolades but a testament to SOGDC’s forward-thinking approach and operational excellence.

The official certificate handover ceremony was held at SOGDC’s headquarters in Wisma Innoprise, Kota Kinabalu and was attended by industry leaders and key stakeholders.

These include board member Datuk Mohd Shariff Ibrahim, Teo Thin Hwa from the Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, and representatives from Bureau Veritas Malaysia.

Harun praised this accomplishment as a collective triumph, attributing its success to the dedication of SOGDC’s Board, management, and employees.

"These certifications are critical milestones in SOGDC’s journey to set benchmarks in quality management and ethical business practices,” he said.

"They symbolise our steadfast dedication to delivering value to stakeholders while maintaining integrity and governance at the core of our operations,” added Harun.

Harun said the certification for ABMS is particularly significant, as SOGDC is the first organisation in Sabah to secure this recognition from Bureau Veritas Malaysia.

He added that this exemplifies how organisations can integrate ethical practices with operational excellence.

With annual surveillance audits to ensure continued compliance, SOGDC has reinforced its pledge to uphold the highest standards of quality and governance, he said.

He added that the organisation’s proactive approach to adopting international best practices signifies its aspiration to be a global competitor while retaining its roots in Sabah’s rich heritage.

Harun said this dual certification not only strengthens SOGDC’s operational capabilities but also enhances its credibility among stakeholders, including investors, partners, and the community at large.
