KLCC LRT station reopens after temporary closure


PETALING JAYA: The KLCC LRT station has reopened to the public after it was temporarily closed due to an electrical fire on Thursday (Jan 2).

In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said that the KLCC LRT station reopened to passengers and resumed operations at 5.52pm.

"In an incident that occurred at 3.51pm earlier, a small fire broke out, causing damage to the air conditioning control panel.

"Station staff successfully contained and extinguished the small fire. The fire department arrived at the location at 4.24pm to investigate the cause of the fire and ensure that the station area was safe for passenger entry," read the statement.

Rapid Rail also said free shuttle bus services were still provided to the Dang Wangi station (bus stop in front of Decathlon KL City Centre) and the Ampang Park station (bus stop in front of Avenue K).

It added that passengers can also take trains on the Kelana Jaya Line from Ampang Park and Kampung Baru stations, Putrajaya Line from Ampang Park and Persiaran KLCC stations and the KL Monorail Line from Bukit Nanas station to continue their journeys.

"Rapid Rail apologises to all passengers affected during the incident and will provide full cooperation to the authorities in conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the incident," read the statement.
