Leverage local legends for tourism

KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister has called for more tourism products showcasing Malaysia’s rich history and legends to attract visitors.

In a Facebook post, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised Dream Forest Langkawi in Kedah as a prime example of integrating local myths, such as the tales of Merong Mahawangsa and Tasik Bunting, into tourism products.

“Langkawi is not only a beautiful island but also rich in stories and heritage worth preserving for future generations,” Anwar wrote, reported Bernama.

“I hope that more initiatives like this will be created and enlivened to strengthen the country’s tourism sector.”

He expressed appreciation to Dream Forest Langkawi’s owners, Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina and Tan Sri Mohd Effendi Norwawi, for their efforts and proposed adding elements to align Langkawi’s tourism with modern technology.
