Teen drowns, two others still missing at Papar beach


KOTA KINABALU: A 14-year-old boy drowned and two others are still missing while swimming at a beach at Kampung Bundusan in Papar about 60kms from here Thursday (Dec 26).

The boy, who was pulled out of the water by villagers shortly after the 5pm incident, was declared dead by medical officers after firemen attempted to revive him by administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

A 48-year-old man and an eight-year-old boy remain missing while another victim, a 12-year-old boy, was rescued by villagers, a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department said.

Firemen received a distress call at 5.40pm informing them that four people were missing after swimming at the beach.

Search and rescue operations are underway.
