Fire razes double-storey terrace house in Ampang


PETALING JAYA: A double-storey terrace house in Taman Keramat, Ampang, was 70% destroyed in a fire on Wednesday (April 8).

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 6.25pm and arrived at the scene in Jalan AU 1C/1 in nine minutes.

Assistant director (Operations) of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the blaze involved a Class A structure measuring 60 by 80 square feet.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found that about 70% of the house had been engulfed in flames and fire was still spreading.

“Firefighting operations are currently ongoing to bring the situation under control,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 8).

He added that no casualties were reported in the incident.

A total of 15 personnel from the Pandan and Keramat fire stations were deployed, supported by two fire rescue tenders and a water tanker.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
