Engineer arrested for filing false robbery report in Rembau

REMBAU: An engineer filed a false police report claiming he was robbed and his luxury Audi car was stolen to claim insurance compensation.

Rembau District Police Chief, Superintendent Shaik Abd Kadar Shaik Mohamed, said the 42-year-old man lodged the report at 3.14am on Saturday (Dec 21).

The man alleged he was stopped by two unidentified individuals on Friday (Dec 20) at 10.22pm, who robbed him of personal belongings and took his Audi.

However, further investigations revealed that he made the false report to claim insurance.

The man was arrested at around 11.45am on Sunday (Dec 22) at a restaurant in Pedas.

The case is being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of six months imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.

The public is urged not to file false police reports, as this creates a negative impact by suggesting crimes that disturb public peace in Rembau.

Police will not hesitate to take strict action against individuals who make such reports.
