Selangor govt, Klang Royal City Council urged to heed call to clean up city

KLANG: The Council of Justices of The Peace of Selangor hopes the Selangor government and Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) will seriously heed the call to clean and spruce Klang up.

The call was made by Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who was furious with the hygiene standards and incessant flooding in the royal town.

The Ruler had given both the state government and MBDK a royal tongue lashing recently over the matter during the inauguration of the Klang Chinese Muslim Jamek Mosque (Masjid Jamek Cina Muslim Klang) here.

In a statement signed by its president Datuk Ng Seing Liong, the council said it fully supported Sultan Sharafuddin’s call for Klang to be cleaned-up and its flooding woes mitigated accordingly.

“Just as his Royal Highness hoped, the Council of Justices of The Peace of Selangor and the state’s people also share the hope that the city’s historical value will be retained despite the rapid development in Klang," said Ng.

Ng also suggested that several other city councils also take responsibility for maintaining Klang River’s cleanliness.

“Since the Klang River flows from Klang through several cities right up to Kuala Lumpur, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Petaling Jaya City Council, Subang Jaya City Council and Shah Alam City Council must also take the responsibility of cleaning up the river together with MBDK," said Ng.

Both the Selangor government and MBDK have embarked on the necessary action immediately following Sultan Sharafuddin’s rebuke.
