PETALING JAYA: The continuous heavy rain warning for certain parts of the East Coast has been upgraded from alert level (yellow) to severe (orange).
In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department at 9am on Monday (Dec 9), severe continuous rain is now expected in Terengganu (Dungun and Kemaman) and Pahang (Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan, and Rompin) until Wednesday (Dec 11).

Other parts of the country still under continuous rain warning at alert level until Wednesday include the entire states of Perlis and Kelantan.
Also affected are Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik, and Baling), Perak (Hulu Perak), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, and Marang).
Other states affected are Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, and Bera), and Johor (Segamat, Mersing, and Kota Tinggi).
Malaysia is currently experiencing the Northeast Monsoon, with many warned to expect a second wave of flooding.
