JOHOR BARU: A local entertainer has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in her 20s.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat confirmed that the suspect, who is also a former participant in a reality comedy show, was arrested in the city early Thursday (Nov 28) morning.
“The suspect, in his 40s, has been placed under police remand for five days until Dec 2 to aid in the investigation,” he said when contacted by the media.
Johor Baru court senior assistant registrar Muhammad Fitri Mokhtar granted the remand order of the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
The offence is punishable with a jail term of five to 20 years and caning if convicted.
