Let's settle this in court, Chow tells Sanusi over Kedah's claim on Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has challenged Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to take his claims that Penang belongs to Kedah to court.

In his winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly, Chow expressed that the Kedah Mentri Besar's assertions contained elements of incitement and disrespect.

"He (Muhammad Sanusi) claims that Penang belongs to Kedah.

"I want to make it clear that Penang is a sovereign state.

"I hope that he respects us and does not repeat these inciting remarks," Chow said in his speech on Thursday (Nov 28).

Chow stated that he has repeatedly asked Muhammad Sanusi to resolve the matter in court.

"I have many times told him to take it to court rather than speak about it outside (of court) like this.

"I hope all the state assemblymen here, including the opposition, are with me on this.

"It is a matter of the state you represent or the national party," he said.

Reports have indicated that Muhammad Sanusi has claimed on multiple occasions that Kedah and Penang do not have a border because Penang still belongs to Kedah, further asserting that Kedah only shares a border with Perak and Perlis.
