PETALING JAYA: Closer collaboration among Asean countries is crucial to facilitate business activities and create win-win opportunities for all, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said that this was even more necessary in today's world filled with economic challenges and uncertainties.

Using Cambodia as an example, he said that the country was an Asean nation with significant opportunities for investment.

"Its economic growth has made it one of the fastest-growing countries in the region, achieving a GDP growth of 5.3% in 2022 and 5.5% in 2023.

He said this on Facebook after delivering a keynote speech at the Global China Economic and Technology Summit (GCET), organised by the Kingsley Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI), officiated by Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Phnom Penh on Tuesday (Nov 26).

"I believe this summit, attended by senior officials from Cambodia, entrepreneurs and industry players from Asean business associations, will deliver meaningful benefits, including information-sharing and fostering ties across the region.

"The remarkable platform underscores the importance of partnerships in driving progress and prosperity for Asean and beyond," added Dr Wee.

Also present were the founder and president of KSI Tan Sri Michael Yeoh, KSI chairman Tan Sri Majid Khan, China's Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin and KSI patron Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew.
