Cops nab four in Semenyih drug bust, almost RM500,000 in ganja and related items seized

KAJANG: Nearly half a million ringgit worth of ganja and cannabis-related items were seized in raids conducted in Semenyih.

A married couple and two other men were detained during the raids last Friday (Nov 15).

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof stated that police apprehended the husband and wife, aged 29 and 36, during a raid on a house around 11.30am.

"We seized ganja from the premises.

"The success of the first raid led the police team to a parking lot in Semenyih, where a 37-year-old man was detained and drugs were seized.

"We also detained a fourth suspect, a 39-year-old man, at a house in Semenyih," he said at a press conference at the Kajang police headquarters on Tuesday (Nov 19).

ACP Naazron reported that police seized 28.9kg of ganja blocks, 7.5kg of ganja flowers, 120g of ganja-laced cigarette joints, and 2.9kg of ganja vape liquid worth RM499,974.

"We also seized a car belonging to the married couple valued at about RM25,205.

"All four suspects have been remanded," he added.

The drugs seized could have been supplied to 94,709 addicts, he said.

"The drugs were intended for the Klang Valley market.

"We are still investigating further to uncover the remnants of the syndicate," he noted.

ACP Naazron appealed for public cooperation in the fight against drugs.

"We urge those with information on drug-related activities to contact the police as soon as possible," he said.
