Johor Zoo to close every Tuesday for upgrade work

KLUANG: The Johor Zoo will be closed every Tuesday for preliminary work on the second phase of its animal enclosure upgrades, according to Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.

The chairman of the Johor Housing and Local Government Committee stated that the zoo's second phase of upgrades is expected to commence in the first quarter of next year.

Planned improvements include increasing parking capacity by 100 additional bays, installing new fences around the animal enclosures, and setting up closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to monitor both the animals and visitors.

He made these announcements after officiating the state-level World Town Planning Day at the Simpang Renggam Mini Stadium on Sunday (Nov 17).

He explained that the CCTV cameras would ensure visitors adhere to rules, such as not throwing food or objects into the enclosures.

As part of short-term improvements, the zoo has added another self-service e-ticket kiosk and a third ticket counter, increasing the total from the previous two.
