Body-in-freezer case: Dispute a possible motive for murder, says KL top cop


KUALA LUMPUR: A personal disagreement could be the motive behind the murder of a woman whose body was kept in a freezer for three years.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said police are still investigating the matter to uncover the reason behind such a horrifying incident.

"The 53-year-old suspect claimed many things, including that he is the victim's son.

"Be that as it may, we are investigating and will check his fingerprints and DNA.

"It is the same for the motive behind the murder," he told reporters on Wednesday (Nov 13).

Comm Rusdi said a post-mortem will be conducted on Wednesday to discover the cause of death.

"The body was stored in the freezer for a long time, since 2021," he said.

Comm Rusdi said the suspect has been remanded until Tuesday (Nov 19).

"He has no criminal record and we are still waiting for a medical report to ascertain the nature of his ailments.

"No previous reports were lodged over the victim going missing," he said.

On Tuesday (Nov 12), the grisly find was made after police inspected a double-storey house in Taman OUG here.

The suspect contacted the police and told them he was not well and that he had stuffed his mother's body in a freezer.

It is learnt that the suspect had financial problems as well as a chronic health issue.

Comm Rusdi said the case had been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and the body was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.
