IPOH: The senior police officer on trial for the murder of a 17-year-old student had run the victim over with his car, the High Court heard.
A witness testified the car had run over the abdomen of the victim - Mohammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie during the incident.
"Before entering the junction near the school, Zaharif slowed down his motorcycle and I saw his rear brake light on.
"However, the car did not stop and hit the victim from the back," he said when questioned by Deputy Public Prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz on Monday (Nov 11).
"The victim was thrown backwards and fell down onto the road.
"The area between the victim's stomach and chest was run over by the front and rear tyres on the right side of the vehicle," he added.
He was testifying in the murder trial of Deputy Supt Mohd Nazri Abdul Razak, who is accused of ramming his car into the victim’s motorcycle, leading to the teenager’s death.
DSP Nazri is charged with murdering Zaharif Affendi at the intersection of Jalan Taman Jati/Jalan Pekeliling Meru Indah, near SMK Jati, between 12.05pm and 12.40pm on Dec 15 last year.
The 10th witness for the case also said that he saw the victim revving his motorcycle several times before being hit by the car.
"I heard his exhaust was a little loud, (but) I don't know why or what is the purpose of him revving the motorcycle.
"I then saw a car stopped next to him and shortly after, I heard his motorcycle leaving and the car followed him," he said.
"The car and the motorcycle sped up after passing the road bump located in the area of the mosque near the school," he added.
The witness added that he and his friends rushed to the scene to help the victim.
He added that the man drove up, alighted from his car and in a strict tone instructed him to take Zaharif Affendi to the police station.
"I replied to the man by saying 'don't pick him up as it was just after an accident', as I was worried that he (Zaharif Affendi) may have broken bones.
"I collected the victim's books and helmet, putting them aside but I did not notice that Zaharif was already picked up and laid aside," he said.
"I am not sure who picked him up as there were so many people, but I saw him being semi-conscious and listless," he added.
The witness also said that the man had tried to put the victim into his car.
"I saw the car had moved towards the victim and the man then opened his back door of his car wanting to put the victim into the car.
"He was stopped by the people there as they were worried after the man said he wanted to bring the victim to the police station instead of the hospital," he said.
"After being stopped, the man closed the car door, returned and saw Zaharif Affendi's condition until the victim's sister and father came and he then got into the car and left," he added.
Meanwhile, another witness, Ipoh City Council engineering department director Ridza'uddin Mohd Radzi said that there were two road bumps and four signboards installed along the roads nearby the school and the mosque.
"The speed limit should be about 30km/per hour and 40/km per hour along the road heading towards the school from the mosque as it is a risky spot," he said.
The case was being heard in the High Court here before Justice Datuk Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet.
The prosecution team also includes Nasrul Hadi Abdul Ghani, V. Suloshani and Low Qin Hui, while the defence team is led by M. Athimulan, former Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid and Aiman Hakim Kamaruzzaman.
