Power has been restored in four districts, says Sabah Electricity


KOTA KINABALU: Thousands of households in eastern Sabah were affected by a major power disruption that hit several districts on Saturday afternoon (Nov 9).

Sabah Electricity said in a statement that the affected areas were Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Beluran, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Kunak and Tawau.

It said that the power supply in some areas, such as Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Kunak, returned to normal at 4pm.

However, the electricity for other districts were fully restored in phases by 5.24pm.

Among those affected were the Tawau Airport, business premises, government offices and residential areas.

Sabah Electricity chairman Datuk Seri Madius Tangau said they have identified the problem and the company Chief Executive officer will issue a statement on the matter later.
