HR Ministry, Huawei to establish world-class, high-tech TVET institutions across Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: The Human Resources Ministry will collaborate with Huawei to establish Smart Campuses that leverage 5G networks and Wi-Fi 7 technology for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide.

Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong announced this partnership as one of the outcomes from a meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Huawei's top management, including its chairman Liang Hua, in Beijing.

The ministry and Huawei will also work together to launch the Huawei Learning Centre, focusing on courses related to 5G technology, artificial intelligence (AI), telecommunications, and more.

Sim stated that the collaboration with the ministry's Industrial Training Institutes (ILP) for the learning centre aligns with its public skills training institutions' "Anak Angkat" programme, introduced during the recent tabling of Budget 2025.

"The ministry will work closely with Huawei to ensure that the initiatives discussed can be implemented as soon as possible," Sim said in a statement.

The joint effort is part of the ministry's initiatives to enhance the skills training sector in Malaysia by creating world-class, high-tech TVET institutions and equipping Malaysians with 21st-century skills in AI, digitalisation, and the green economy.

The Prime Minister also highlighted efforts to bridge the digital divide and improve skills training for Malaysians.

Anwar led the Malaysian delegation on a four-day visit to China starting Nov 4, which began in Shanghai and concluded in Beijing on Thursday (Nov 7). – Bernama
