Ramanan tasked with addressing Indian community issues in Parliament debate

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has been mandated to address questions and issues concerning Indian community affairs and the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra) during the winding-up session of the Supply Bill (Budget) 2025 debate in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Nov 6).

In a statement, the Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister stated that this decision was made at a special meeting last week, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The meeting included the Mitra management and several MPs representing the Indian community.

The meeting focused on discussing views and ideas to further empower the Indian community.

"The Prime Minister has also directed the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry to coordinate and increase programmes related to the Indian community.

"For this purpose, Ramanan is entrusted to oversee and ensure that, among other things, the allocations in Budget 2025 for the community achieve their goals," the statement read. – Bernama
